Alexander Defreitas
Mr. Defreitas has been named a Top Attorney two years in a row (2013-2014) by Houstonia Magazine (an award given out at the end of each year) amongst his other awards. He graduated from Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law, in Dallas, Texas in May of 2003.
While attending Southern Methodist University, Mr. Defreitas was an Associate and Executive Board member of the Board of Advocates; member of the Corporate Law Association; Howie & Sweeney Moot Court Competition (Semi-Finalist); named to the Dean’s List Spring 2002; and clerked two semesters for the Mulligan Law Firm, P.C., a national mass tort litigation firm.
After graduating from law school in 2003, Mr. Defreitas took the Texas Bar Exam and was licensed in November of 2003. He moved to Houston to join the Harris County District Attorney's Office, garnering experience in myriad of criminal matters with a heavy foucs on driving while intoxicated cases. Mr. Defreitas then left the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to venture into transactional and civil litigation practices. The vast majority of this time was spent, working as an in-house counsel for one of the largest insurance companies in the United States, in which he gained even more experience defending Driving While Intoxicated cases involving accidents.
